The phoenix is a majestic bird that lives for 1000 years, then builds a great nest and sets it aflame.  When fire has totally consumed the nest, in the midst of the ashes an egg appears, and from that egg the phoenix is reborn.

The Sphinx asks the riddle every hero must answer and ravages those who fail.  The Sphinx demands not that we know who we are, but that we know what we are – that we are mortals with a limited time on this earth to accomplish what we will.

This Sphinx tile is a reminder to use each day wisely.
